General Code of

Conduct and Ethics

This Code of Conduct and Ethics provides guidelines that will allow the Redlands Centre for Women to provide a safe and supportive environment for staff, volunteers, members, participants and guests to the Centre.

The Code provides a clear understanding of the behaviour expected from all persons entering the Centre for any purpose, program, event or activity.

Attendance at the Centre and participation in any Centre programs, activities or events at any location in the community, implies acceptance of this Code of Conduct and Ethics and is a condition for continued engagement with the Association.

Volunteers, members, staff, participants, contractors & guests agree, at all times to:

  • Abide by and operate within the provisions of the Constitution, policies and rules of the Centre
  • Act in a manner that supports the safety and wellbeing of all persons engaging with the Centre
  • Respect and support the right of all women to be empowered, educated and connected through participation in Centre activities
  • Avoid any behaviour that detracts from or discredits the Centres positive reputation or mission
  • Support the Centre, to the best of their ability, to deliver on its mission and vision
  • Maintain appropriate, courteous, respectful and fair relationships with others
  • Demonstrate respect for the individuality, rights, opinions, beliefs and values of others
  • Avoid any behaviour that initiates, facilitates or condones any form of physical, social or emotional harm to others
  • Avoid any behaviour that initiates, facilitates or condones any form of discrimination or harassment based on nationality, gender, religion, sexual orientation, age or marital status
  • Maintain the right to privacy and confidentiality for all persons engaging with the Centre
  • Follow appropriate procedures for making complaints about behaviours, processes or decisions

Staff and Volunteers

Staff and volunteers agree, at all times to:

  • Abide by all provisions of the Redlands Centre for Women’s General Code of Conduct & Ethics (above)
  • In all business conducted under in the name of the Centre, place the interests of the organisation over their own interests of those of any other person or persons;
  • Undertake any training necessary for the competent performance of their duties;
  • Enthusiastically and competently carry out any duties specified by their employee/volunteer contract or as directed by their supervisor
  • In any work carried out for the organisation, follow the directions of their designated supervisors and accept guidance as necessary to ensure safety and efficiency ;
  • Operate in a manner that protects and promotes personal health and safety and the health and safety of others.

Management Committee Members

Office Bearers & Management Committee Members agree, at all times to:

  • Abide by all provisions of the Redlands Centre for Women’s General Code of Conduct & Ethics (above)
  • In all business conducted under in the name of the Centre, place the interests of the organisation over their own interests of those of any other person or persons;
  • Undertake any training necessary for the competent performance of their duties;
  • Enthusiastically and competently carry out any duties specified by their position or as directed by their Executive officers
  • Attend all meetings of the Management Committee, and, in the event that they are prevented from attending, notify the Secretary of their absence in advance of the meeting;
  • Shall devote to their duties the amount of time required to carry them out thoroughly and effectively;
  • Operate in a manner that protects and promotes personal health and safety and the health and safety of others.
